Mask exhibition reflectionThe mask project was very fun, I enjoyed creating my mask, and found a way to make a simple mistake into something beautiful and symbolic. I loved making my ideas come to life and being able to explain my thought process to the community. I got to also learn about something I had never thought about, which was male superiority.

Fahrenheit 451
here is my final literary analysis for this project:
In Ray Bradbury’s novel Fahrenheit 451, he uses several literary tools such as a great setting, the setting tells the reader exactly what the situation is, who montag is and conveys hints of the society's norms. The use of setting is used well throughout the story to convey deeper metaphors and meanings. such as the use of detail describing Clarisse when montag runs into her. “The autumn leaves blew over the moonlit pavement as to make the girl who was moving there seem fixed to a sliding walk” The setting is obvious and it reveals a piece of what Clarisse is like. The intro also shows a piece of what Montag is like. The entire book uses setting well, using metaphors related to the environment around the characters to tell a part of the story that would be hard to see otherwise.
In several places Ray Bradbury uses metaphors to tell about issues in the real world, such as ignorance and selfishness in the action of burning books, this society is trying to erase history, so the society can make its own version of history. The largest metaphor is the use of fire and its implementation to remove the society’s idea of unhappiness. “Don't let the torrent of melancholy and drear philosophy drown our world” I feel the use of fire other than other things is that fire leaves nothing but ash behind, ash may seem useless but you can use ash as fertilizer to grow new life. so using fire is a metaphor for starting over and destroying the remnants of anything that might cause resistance.
Another metaphor is the parlors. The parlors take the place of family, friends, and most interaction. The fact that there is a massive threat of nuclear war and nobody seems to care, and that it has happened several times before shows that the people are very distant. Mildred treasures the screaming “Relatives” in the parlor over her own husband, when Montag is pretending to be sick, Mildred wont even turn the yelling things in the parlor off or down, because they are her “Family”. “Will You turn it off for a sick man?” He asked her, “That's my family” She replyed, “I’ll turn it down” She went out of the room and did nothing to the parlor and came back. “Is that better?” she asked. The mechanical hound is another metaphor, for a type of defeat, never faltering, always succeeding, and unstoppable.
Another metaphor is the use of old time when Mildred overdoses on her sleeping medication. The use of old time in her suggests that old time is bad for people. which reinforces the book burning reasons. “looking for old water and the old time gathered there It drank up the green matter that flowed to the top in a slow boil.” This quote shows how the amount of old time and its effects are both very bad in this society. the river is also a metaphor for freedom, the river is flowing without impediment and Montag finds safety in it and it washes his old self away.
Another metaphor is the nuclear war and jets, the jets symbolise how machines have taken the place of humans. When Montag discovers Mildred has overdosed. the book says “As he stood there the sky over the house screamed...The jet bombers going over and over” The nukes symbolise the destructive power of ignorance, because as the nukes fell nobody panicked, and even when war was declared nobody left.
